The Seattle SuperSonics haven't appeared on an NBA court for 18 years, and yet the brand's popularity remains as

valuable as ever.

The absence, indeed, has made the fanbase grow fonder.

As of early April, the popular pro sports merchandise website Mitchell & Ness lists 40 Sonics items online, for example, compared with 14 items for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the reigning NBA champs better known in Seattle as the Midwest incarnation of Sonics. The NBA store, meanwhile, sells five different Sonics jerseys as part of its “hardwood classic teams” collection.
