Sea-Tac's expanded C Concourse opens after $399 million renovation
Following years of planning and construction, the Port of Seattle on Thursday unveiled the renovated C Concourse at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The C Concourse contains 11 new restaurants and retailers, an open pavilion for live music, outdoor space, meditation and prayer rooms and it all sits under a wooden-paneled ceiling meant to feel like a forest canopy.
Operating on limited space, the port opted to build up, rather than out. The new facility grew from one to four stories, expanding the concourses footprint from 81,000 to 229,500 square feet.
Sea-Tac "is one of the most space-constrained airports in the country while welcoming the 11th-largest number of passengers, Wendy Reiter, Sea-Tacs managing director, said in a news release. So, our team had to get creative and this space is the perfect illustration of that creativity.
