Seattle NBA expansion draws multiple bidders, Adam Silver says
Just when it appeared as if the NBA's path back to Seattle was clearly laid out, Adam Silver returned to the mic.
The NBA commissioner said Tuesday that multiple parties are interested in bidding on an expansion team in Seattle, a noteworthy development in the ongoing NBA expansion saga considering only one group has publicly said it is preparing a bid.
"Most of the groups that are interested have not been public. Any group that's chosen to be public, it's their decision," Silver said after the NBA board of governors meetings this week in Las Vegas. "I wouldn't conclude that because there aren't other public groups coming forward that therefore there isn't other interest in Seattle. There is."
Since NBA owners voted in March to explore adding new teams in Seattle and Las Vegas, the only publicly known expansion bid for the Sonics is being led by Kraken owner Samantha Holloway.
