West Virginia

Trump has announced the new U.S. Attorneys for the state of West Virginia, and one of them is Moore Capito.
Son of West Virginia's senior senator, Shelley Moore Capito.
Who, despite a barrage of phone calls from throughout the state concerned about losing healthcare, voted for the Big Ball of BS Bill.
(There have also been a bunch of television commercials for Shelley, promoting her love of Trump and her re-election in 19 months. The ads are paid for by Take Me Home WV Action Super Pac, who describes itself as "We support conservative Republican candidates that will stand with President Donald J. Trump and make America great again." She won in 2020 with 70% of the vote - why does she need to campaign this early?)

(12,678 posts)Trump has been using our state like his personal political guinea pig. Every horrible policy that his tiny little narcissistic brain dreams up, seems to get tested HERE before anywhere else. Between that, and my longtime partner, Rhythm, losing ALL of their civil rights? We just can't stay here anymore. 💔😢
So in the words of the great Utah Phillips...*sigh*

Oh the green rolling hills of West Virginia
Are the nearest thing to heaven that I know
Though the times are sad and drear,
And I cannot linger here--
They keep me and never let me go.
My daddy said, "Don't ever be a miner,
For a mine's grave is all you'll ever own."
There's hard times everywhere,
I can't find a dime to spare.
These are the worst times I've ever known.
Oh the green rolling hills of West Virginia
Are the nearest thing to Heaven that I know
Though the times are sad and drear,
And I cannot linger here--
They'll keep me and never let me go.
So I'll move away into some crowded city
In some northern factory town, you'll find me there.
I'll leave the past behind;
And I'll never change my mind
These troubled times are more than I can bear.
But the green rolling hills of West Virginia
Are the nearest thing to Heaven that I know
Though the times are sad and drear,
And I cannot linger here--
They'll keep me and never let me go.
Someday I'll go back to West Virginia,
To those green and rolling hills, I love so well.
Oh someday I'll go home,
And I know I'll right the wrongs.
These hard times will follow me no more.
Oh the green rolling hills of West Virginia
Are the nearest thing to Heaven that I know
Though the times are sad and drear,
And I cannot linger here--
They'll keep me and never let me go...
