Milwaukee District 3 aldermanic election results: Political newcomer Alex Brower wins
After months sitting vacant, Milwaukee's District 3 seat on the Common Council will be filled by political newcomer, Alex Brower.
After absentee ballots were counted, Brower, 37, carried roughly 54% of the vote in a special election Tuesday, beating out his challenger, Daniel Bauman, who received 46%, according to unofficial results.
He will fill the remainder of late Ald. Jonathan Brostoff's term, which ends April 17, 2028, and will now make more than $84,200 per year.
"The working people of Milwaukee have made it clear in this election that they are sick of an economy that serves only the richest 1%," Brower said in a statement, adding his "victory over the mayors status quo candidate a victory that has elected the first socialist to the Common Council since 1948 demonstrates that Milwaukeeans are ready for transformative change for the city."
