Transcripts: Kenosha DA (R) said he used AI for research before judge sanctioned him
Kenosha Countys district attorney admitted he used artificial intelligence for research before he was reprimanded by a judge earlier this month over his AI use, newly released court transcripts reveal.
Earlier this month, Judge David Hughes agreed to dismiss two cases, during a hearing in which he sanctioned Kenosha Countys top prosecutor, Xavier Solis, for failing to disclose his AI use and for submitting bogus case citations.
In a statement after the sanctions were made public, Solis told WPR his office has since identified and acknowledged the issue after not initially disclosing AI use.
Our office takes accuracy, candor, and disclosure obligations seriously, the statement said. We have reviewed and reinforced our internal practices to ensure clarity and reliability in future filings, including verification of citations.
