Jackson Hole police blotter, March 24

Jackson Hole police blotter, March 24

By Emily Mieure Mar 24, 2021

A man returned to his car after skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on March 13 and noticed part of his car’s bumper had been nearly ripped off. A note on his windshield from a witness said they saw a woman hit his Subaru and leave. The witness left the license plate number so deputies tracked her down at her Wilson home. The 26-year-old said she didn’t have any paper to leave a note, and that when she tried to report the accident to the resort no one answered. She was cited for failure to report. The collision left “well over $1,000 in damage,” Teton County Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Stanyon said.

Deputies found methamphetamine residue, a spoon, a needle and other paraphernalia in a car belonging to a man wanted on a warrant out of Lincoln County for drug possession. They pulled him over at 7 a.m. March 16 for driving 79 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone on Highway 22, Stanyon said. The 46-year-old Idaho Falls man was charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding.

Deputies were dispatched at 4:30 a.m. March 17 to a report of a disabled car on Highway 89 near Fish Hatchery Hill. They found a barefoot man who smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. He denied drinking but had an open bottle of rum in his pocket, reports stated. The 35-year-old was arrested because he had an outstanding warrant out of municipal court for a previous public intoxication charge.

At 11:30 p.m. Thursday deputies stopped a man for going 10 mph over the speed limit. They seized marijuana and Xanax and cited the 39-year-old for possession.
