Dale Botting has spent the past 45 winters travelling to sunny Arizona to escape Saskatchewan winters and enjoy the warm weather, golf and friends he's made at his desert vacation home.
But this winter will be his last.
Botting has listed his home in Chandler, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix, that has been in his family since his dad purchased it 45 years ago.

Arizona real estate agents say Canadians are bailing out of the American market in record numbers, partly driven by the weak Canadian dollar and the chance to cash in on their home's appreciated value.
But for many, it's Trump's constant needling of Canadians through tariff threats or suggesting Canada should become the 51st state.

Who wouldnt want to vacation here? It sounds harsh but for years my Canadian friends have ignored all of this to be warm and cozy in the winter months. Basically wintering in a prison camp was better than the cold long winter up north. I tried to have conversations about this but their eyes were closed to all of this. Until tariffs. Bang and boom, that hit home. And even with that they were angry with the ignorant Americans that let this happen. Im glad they are heading home. Its not safe here and it hasnt been for years. I feel great sadness that our world has come to this. Im sad that Canadians have been a pawn in our debacle. But I am also sad that it took all of this for them to see that there is real trouble here. The Patriot Act should have been a game changer. Tears and a broken heart for all that has been lost.
