https://www.computerworld.com/article/4032856/apples-results-show-the-windows-to-mac-switch-is-happening.html The Mac installed base hit a new high in the last quarter. And just where are those users coming from?
One deployment after another, Apple continues to exploit the huge opportunity it has been given as enterprises consider the cost consequences of upgrading legacy equipment to Windows 11.
It seems clear the forced need to upgrade Windows is motivating many business users to move to the Mac instead. This trend has been ongoing for some time, but seems to have become even more apparent in recent months Apples most recent quarterly financial call confirmed double-digit growth in Mac sales during Q3 25.

Is Apple taking market share from Windows?
If this were the case, you would expect to hear that the company is attracting a lot of new users to the platform, and you would also expect the number of users to increase. This seems to be precisely what is happening, with Parekh claiming: The Mac installed base reached an all-time high. He also claimed a June quarter record for upgraders.

(20,082 posts)2. A lot of people are seeing their hardware obsoleted.
I think that's the main point. Just my best guess. People seem to get over software future shock.
Apple does it too, but folks like me either keep their old gear running to play old software or install linux. But I'm not exactly a big business, nor a small one.

If I recall correctly, the recent M1 transition was announced with ample warning and with Apple's promise to support Intel machines during the crossover. I think they handled that fairly.
I've been a happy MAC user since 1989. I turned down a graphic design job with a winery about 15 years ago because it would mean having to work on Windows OS.
