A WordPress Photography question

I am trying to set up a photography site to show case some of my pictures and need a theme or plugin that works for photo sites. I am not looking for any blogs or visitor postings. Just show the pictures I want to show in a reasonably professional manor. A Portfolio.

It is not helping that I am a WordPress novice. WordPress itself I can figure out.
At the moment, this is what I have: http://timws.com/photography/
(Just some random pictures loaded to work with)

The current theme is 'Portfolio Press'. How does one get pictures 3 of 4 across.
I also tried MYgRID2 1.3. That was nothing but frustration for me.
I don't really want to pay for anything until I figure out what I am doing. I think part of my problem is I do not know much about CSS. HTML, yes, CSS no.

Any suggestions? Themes that work for a rank amateur at this.

This is kind of the look I am after:
