If Roy Cooper(R-NC) decides to run for the US Senate, it will be in 2026 instead of 2022.
In 2022, Cooper-D has to leave the NC Governorship in the middle of his term. The Lt. Governor of NC, Mark Robinson is a Republican.
In 2026, Cooper-D will be out of the NC Governorship. He will be running for the US Senate against Thom Tillis.
The Democratic nominee for the 2022 NC US Senate will either be Josh Stein-D if he decides to run for the US Senate, Erica Smith-D, Deborah Ross-D,Grier Martin III-D, Jeff Jackson-D, Anthony Foxx-D, or Janet Cowell-D.
