Inflation rumbles on
Was shopping day, needed food and fix it supplies. Began my day in Wally's for some paint after 7 am. Store was quiet, the employees mostly weren't there yet. They lock up all the spray paints now, so I had to ask a guy on a ladder. He couldn't hear me, he must have been 88 years old, all hunched over, but he was very nice and tried to flag down a manager. I thanked him and decided I'd return later in the day after some price checking at Lowes which turned out to be $10 more expensive on a quart of varnish, and almost $10 on the spray can variety. Never did find black vinyl paint, but did score a house brand white at Lowes for a couple bucks off.
Then there was Dollar Tree. Bought borax to clean things and the $1.25 Borax of July is now the $1.50 Borax of September. Dollar Tree removes the prices on many things now and prices on the fly.
I scored 12 ounces of Ground Coffee, house brand of Winnco of Idaho for $3.95. Don't know what it tastes like or what flavor but it has a pic of chocolate and vanilla on the outside.
Finally it was back to Wally's around 3:30p. The same old man on the ladder was still up the ladder in a different aisle. How does he keep going? There were closeouts galore in back-to-school items. I don't think things are going very well.
If Trump deports millions there will be no employees in the stores.
Oh and at Lowes there was last year every week a TACO truck, with a full menu. That's gone, now there's a guy with an umbrella, a push cart, and a sign that says hot dogs, soda, water $2.00.
