RUTLAND, Vt. —
The union representing Rutland teachers and school board members have reached a deal, according to a spokesperson for Vermont NEA. There will be no strike Wednesday morning. Students will come to school as normal.

Negotiators from the Rutland Education Association met with members of the Rutland City Public School Board on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the terms of a potential new contract that would prevent the teachers from striking.

Negotiations wrapped up around midnight Wednesday morning.

"After nearly eight hours of talks, teachers and the city’s school board reached a tentative agreement on contract terms, averting what would have been the first Vermont teachers’ strike in nearly a decade," said the Rutland Education Association in a statement.
