I have heard that the 1099 forms are to be mailed out no later than
January 31. I have all my forms but 1 1099 form from a pension so I can't file my income tax.
I called the pension plan last Monday, first off they have a recording saying all 1099 forms
have been mailed out no later than January 31. Then someone answers the phone and I tell
him I never received the form; he asked my name and address, and he said "I may mail it tomorrow"
Here it is a week later, and I still don't have it. My next door neighbor also receives the same pension
and both of us have gone through the same bullshit the last two years. If there is anyone still left at the
IRS can they do anything?

(37,561 posts)and I have no taxes taken out. That is what I ended up doing last year since I filed online and didn't need to
mail the forms in.

(445 posts)so I printed it out from SSA and my accountant was able to do my taxes with that copy.
Oops, sorry, you're talking about the one from your pension, not the SSA. Does the institution have a website where you can see your 1099?

(37,561 posts)"Maybe I will send it out tomorrow". I am just going to use last year's information; I file online anyway.

(13,461 posts)is just flat out lying? That seems - a little unlikely to me - and could probably indeed result in problems for them. But the fact that you say you haven't gotten a form (even late?) for several years running now .. ? That would to me indicate that there most likely 'other issues' at play here. (a corrupted address?)
If you want to pursue this further - I would recommend either an ombudsman (if applicable, and/or such exists) or a call to a congressman's office.
