Second Wave of Hydrogen Sanitation Vehicles Hit the Roads in Anhui Province, China

Second Wave of Hydrogen Sanitation Vehicles Hit the Roads in Anhui Province, China

Fuel Cells Works | June 13, 2025

Recently, Lu'an City's Jin'an District saw the official handover of Anhui Province’s second batch of hydrogen-powered sanitation vehicles. Tomorrow, Hydrogen Energy ceremonially transferred vehicle keys to Fulongma Group’s local subsidiary, marking another critical advancement in Anhui's push toward sustainable urban sanitation.

Under Lu'an City’s determined strategy to foster a local hydrogen energy sector, Tomorrow Hydrogen Energy and Fulongma Group have collaborated to expand the deployment of hydrogen-powered sanitation vehicles. Anchored by Jin'an's integrated "production-addition" green hydrogen station, the rollout has solidified an energy loop encompassing electricity generation, hydrogen production, and practical application in sanitation services.

The 18-ton hydrogen-powered sanitation sweepers feature a proprietary 101kW fuel cell system from Tomorrow Hydrogen Energy, which enables rapid cold starts even at temperatures as low as-30°C. This cutting-edge technology ensures over 400 kilometers per fueling cycle, boosting operational time by 70% and eliminating the range limitations typical of electric counterparts. These vehicles easily handle cross-city operations with zero emissions across their lifecycle.

Integrating a sophisticated "sweeping + washing + suction" tri-mode, each sweeper cleans up to 70,000 square meters per hour at a cleanliness rate exceeding 95%. The multifunctional design replaces several traditional machines, achieving a 40% procurement cost reduction and boosting efficiency by 120% compared to global leading brands. Additionally, the sweepers incorporate smart traffic light-sensitive start-stop technology, dynamically adapting cleaning functions to chassis speeds, thus cutting average daily energy consumption by 25%, saving over 150,000 yuan [$21,000 USD] annually, and further reducing energy consumption by 18%...more
