the Gare du Nord in Paris, and Atocha in Madrid. The garden is really cool and obviously wasn't there the day that I was in the station.

I was there on 3-11-04.

This station was built in 1997. Note the escalator.

I hadn't been to Kyoto since 1991, when the old, grubby station still existed. Coming back in 2000, I was astounded at the new station, which has a department store, a luxury hotel, and an underground shopping and restaurant arcade. This picture appears to have been taken from a mezzanine that has restaurants and snack bars.
