On the other hand, I’m still afraid that this project might be halted. A previous tunneling project got tanked by Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Cristi—and Cristi was supposed to be a “moderate” ( ) .Since then, Republican attitudes have shifted even further to the right. We are now at the point where Republicans consistently show a reflex aversion to any government engineering project that benefits the citizenry and not a small pool of foreign and domestic billionaires.
