Magnitude 7.4 earthquake strikes Philippines' Mindanao region - ABC News (Australia)



Residents in coastal areas of the Philippines' Mindanao region were urged to "immediately evacuate" after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck 20 km from the town of Manay.

Tsunami warnings had been issued for parts of the Philippines, Indonesia, and Palau, but the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre says the threat of destructive waves has passed.

World Vision's Mindanao field operations manager, Elizabeth Delgado, says government agencies are assessing damage and possible casualties.
