Taiwan says ties with US "rock solid" after Trump-Xi phone call - CNA

Taiwan says its relations with the US remain rock-solid, after President Donald Trump held a phone call with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, which saw Beijing issue a warning on arms sales to the island. Taiwan President William Lai says he sees as unchanged US commitments to Taiwan, adding that call will help stabilize the region. Mr. Trump is due to visit China in April.

While the US does not have official diplomatic ties with Taiwan, it maintains robust, unofficial ties and remains the island's most important supplier of arms. We spoke with Richard Haass about his take on the rising geopolitical tensions and shifting global order. Mr. Haass is President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, and joined us from the World Governments Summit in Dubai.
