Started streaming 10 minutes ago Chuck PFARRER & Jason SMART: WAR
Ukraine’s first known strike on Russia’s Omsk refinery pushes the war into the Kremlin’s deepest industrial rear, where Moscow believed distance, geography, and air defense would protect its most important fuel infrastructure. More than 2,500 km (1,550 mi) from Ukraine, Omsk is Russia’s largest refinery and a critical part of the fuel system that keeps military logistics, domestic transport, and the central economy moving.

The same campaign is also hitting Yaroslavl and other major refining targets, while Moscow faces fuel disruptions, weakened gasoline standards, emergency additives, and growing pressure on the infrastructure Putin needs to keep the war moving. Ukraine is no longer only striking front-line positions. It is forcing Russia to defend refineries, tankers, radar systems, S-400 air defenses, and Crimea’s fuel routes at the same time.

As Russian advances slow and air defenses fail to protect targets deep inside the country, the strategic question is changing fast. How long can the Kremlin keep fighting abroad while defending the machinery of war at home?

Jason Smart and Chuck Pfarrer, former Navy SEAL and military analyst, break down why this campaign matters now.
