Gaza's civil defence agency said Israeli gunfire killed at least 31 Palestinians near a US-backed aid distribution site on Sunday, with the group in charge of the new delivery mechanism denying any incident.
Israel has faced growing condemnation over the humanitarian crisis in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, where the United Nations has warned the entire population faces famine after no aid had been allowed to enter for more than two months.

(20,250 posts)How "near" to the distribution site were they? How many of the ostensibly killed were Hamas fighters?
The Hamas-run Gaza civil defense agency says Israeli fire killed at least 22 people near a US-backed aid distribution centre in the southern city of Rafah, revising an earlier death toll.
The number of martyrs from the massacre at the American aid center in Rafah has risen to at least 22, with more than 120 wounded, including children, civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal tells AFP.
The figure cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.
The IDF has not commented on the incident. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said earlier that our aid was again distributed today without incident.

New York, May 15, 2025When Gazan journalist Tawfiq Abu Jarad received a phone call from a Hamas security agent warning him not to cover a protest, he readily complied, having been assaulted by Hamas-affiliated forces once before.

(2,115 posts)"Euro-Med Monitors field team documented Israeli forces opening fire on thousands of civilians gathered at dawn today, Sunday, 1 June 2025, in Tel al-Sultan, Rafah, near an aid distribution centre established by the Israeli army. Preliminary data indicate that the attack killed at least 31 civilians, including two women, and injured more than 200 others. Several remain missing.
The death toll is expected to rise due to the high number of critical injuries and the severe collapse of the healthcare system caused by the blockade and Israeli targeting of medical facilities."
There's video footage in the link.
