There can be no compromise between the destroyers of Israel and its defenders. The only course of action that could still save the country from becoming democracy's corpse is a total shutdown of the country until the Netanyahu government is replaced or the prime minister resignsBy Ehud Barak

This is an emergency call asking people to courageously confront reality and take action to stop the landslide. The Israel of the Declaration of Independence and the Zionist vision is collapsing. The emergency requires us to answer five key questions.
What is happening to us? Who is responsible for this? What action should be taken and what is the desired result? Who should call for action and who should lead it? Who should take action to achieve the objective?
Regarding the first question, an absolute majority of the country's citizens realize what is happening. We have a wonderful people and a military that has performed magnificently against Hezbollah, Iran and Syria.
But we are stuck in a war of deception in the Gaza Strip. Blood is flowing, families and businesses of reservists are collapsing, and a bill to legalize draft dodging is being pushed by the government under pressure from the ultra-Orthodox. The government's attempt to weaken the judiciary and the crushing of the country's gatekeepers are proceeding apace.

even during the 12 days bombardment from Iran they continued although banned
by the Home Front Command .....smaller then of course .
Hasnt reached to the numbers yet before Oct 7th but thats because we have been
on a war footing ( not sure thats the correct english )
Used to be we could protest with the whole family but not anymore .
Its become to dangerous to take small children so its hard to find babysitters
when most families have someone either active in the army or reservists.
The largest protests are usually on a Saturday night in Tel Aviv also in
Jerusalem and Haifa .
They are not limited to just the cities tho or to Saturdays , all across the country
at main intersections and junctions during the week to.
There was a large one last Thursday in Tel Aviv .
This one is in Jerusalem

Three Out of Four Israelis Want to End the Gaza War. Here's Why It's Not Happening
Over the past week, Tel Aviv-Jaffa saw a myriad of protests, each with its own message. But the movements must now truly join forces Gaza's children and Israel's hostages can't wait for us to build the perfect coalition
Nothing in Tel Aviv-Jaffa is guaranteed but constant construction, being dripped on by overhead air conditioning units, and protests. While all of these phenomena ramped up over the past couple of months, the protests seem to have multiplied at a dizzying pace.
In the past seven days alone, you could have attended a mass anti-war demonstration at Habima Square; another anti-war demonstration at Habima Square; a rally to bring home the hostages at Hostage Square; another rally to bring home the hostages, but with more shouting, at Begin Street; a protest against starvation in Gaza organized by Arab community leaders in Jaffa; and a protest against American complicity in the starvation in Gaza outside the U.S. Embassy branch. Then, you could come right back to Habima Square on Thursday night for another round of anti-war demonstrating. This is just within the municipal limits, of course. Other massive protests have also taken place throughout the country namely the mixed city of Haifa and Arab city of Sakhnin, in Israel's north.
Each of these demonstrations carries its own message. At one, saying "starvation isn't a Jewish value" would be considered provocative; at another, signs declare "end the genocide." Some rail against the government for allowing Haredi youth to dodge the military draft, while others call for wholesale refusal to serve in the military at all.
They all agree the war is killing people but who? For one group, the 50 hostages are the primary focus; for another, it's Gaza's civilians. And who is expressly responsible? Some say of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right coalition allies, but others say that every Israeli soldier shares the blame.
At the larger protests, where organizers aim to create a "wide tent" of anti-war demonstrators, these ideological discrepancies have sparked tensions. When tens of thousands gathered for last week's anti-war rally, members of the so-called radical bloc grew frustrated by the lack of acknowledgment of Palestinian suffering in the evening's speeches. They started to chant "shame, shame!" continuing as the mother of a hostage took the stage. The move caused verbal altercations between the young radicals and the veteran anti-Netanyahu protesters. By the rally's end, the radicals seemed more like counter-protesters than participants.
But despite their different politics, different demographics and different organizations backing them up, these demonstrations share a central demand: Israel's war in Gaza must end immediately with a cease-fire deal and the release of the hostages, something that three-quarters of Israeli society believes in. Even if only half of those people take to the streets, it would still be millions.
The many protest movements need now to focus, even if just for a couple of hours, on the root of the most acute suffering the ongoing war in Gaza and even the most obstinate objectors will have to listen. This will mean truly joining forces and meeting each other where we are, rather than jamming every cause into each demonstration, however righteous they may be.
We know that ending the war in Gaza won't fix every problem there will still be an occupation in the West Bank, systemic inequality across the land, a Netanyahu government, perhaps even continued Hamas rule in Gaza. But we don't have the privilege at this time to ruminate on each participating group's ideal outcome for the land. People are dying, and neither the children of Gaza nor Israel's hostages have time for us to build the most perfect coalition. What they need is our combined voices, before it's too late.

Hundreds in Tel Aviv demand end to Gaza war: Its a duty to refuse
Actor accuses Israel of genocide; former IDF pilots call on current pilots to not carry out war crimes; one arrested in scuffle with police
Today 11.58 am
About 1,000 people gathered on Thursday night at Tel Avivs Habima Square for an anti-war protest organized by an Israeli-Palestinian coalition of peace activists and human rights groups, which included calls for soldiers to refuse to serve in the war.
Speakers also assailed Israels actions in the West Bank and the release from jail of a settler accused of having shot dead Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen this week, even as Hathaleens relatives remain in prison.
In a rare occurrence for a Tel Aviv protest of this size, one of the speakers at the demonstration, actor Yossi Zabari, explicitly accused Israel of genocide the word that frightens us more than the deed itself, he said.
Israel has long rejected claims by the international community and human rights organizations that it is committing genocide in Gaza, saying that it makes efforts to prevent civilian harm, which are hindered by Hamass use of Gazas civilians as human shields.
Protesters hoisted pictures of emaciated Gazan children and Israeli hostages. A large screen on stage read, in Hebrew and Arabic, Enough with the killing, enough with the starvation, enough with the abandonment.
Right now in Gaza, there is a little girl hungry for food and a little boy thirsty for water, said Rula Daoud, a co-leader of the binational socialist group Standing Together. I dont know how much energy the boy and girl have left in their bodies to shout, but I know I can shout for them. She called for a joint Jewish-Arab struggle to sabotage life here until the government breaks.
We must not think that its not our responsibility and that we have nothing to do, because its possible to refuse, and its a duty to refuse to serve this war, she said, as the crowd chanted: Refuse.
Activist Ghadir Hani, who introduced herself to applause as an Arab-Palestinian citizen of Israel, said in her speech that starting Sunday, dozens of peace groups will set up a struggle tent on nearby Dizengoff Square, from which actions of disruption and incessant struggle will go out.
We wont stop until the war of annihilation is over and the government of death is out of here, she said.
Hani also played a video address to the demonstration by a man she introduced as Rami, a resident of the Gaza Strip, whose family was displaced from its home and is struggling with hunger.
Rami said he follows anti-war protests in Israel from afar, and expresses appreciation for protests that exhibit pictures of children killed by Israel.
It shows we feel each others pain, he said.
Two former IAF pilots Maj. (res.) Hagai Tamir and Lt. Col. (res.) David Yisraeli addressed current pilots, saying: Refuse to carry out war crimes. Dont close your eyes in the face of the consequences of your actions.
Police arrested one protester after ordering demonstrators to clear Ben Tziyon Boulevard. The protesters then marched toward the Likud party headquarters on King George Street, where they sat down and lit a fire. Police shoved some of them to the ground.

The distinction between the two is not as hard to Israelis, but making it takes a bit of awareness and an elementary nuanced judgement from the rest of us. And it needs to be made, clearly and concisely, regardless of prevailing social media trends.
But that is not enough. Continuous focus on the destroyers of Israel, even when they are clearly identified (which is rarely the case), will not make a dent in their grip on power.
It is the absolute, overwhelming, unequivocal and continuous support for the defenders of Israel from all over the world that can boost their struggle.
There are millions of them in Israel. Yet, they are rarely paid attention to. Certainly, no credit from the mass media. They are being left to fend for themselves in defending their country.
This is no less of an outrage than what the destroyers of Israel are perpetrating.

(4,452 posts)Democratic Party chairman Yair Golan addressed the plan to occupy Gaza, claiming it would lead to the death of all hostages. In an interview with ynet studio, he said, "The entire issue of managing Gaza will fall on the IDF, and what are the costs? The death of all hostages and the death of dozens and hundreds of soldiers." Golan added: "The government is dragging the country into an unnecessary war that will complicate Israel's situation in every possible aspect security, international and economic we must resist. I call on citizens to shut down the economy. We shouldn't wait for the Attorney General or the Supreme Court, the government anyway despises the rule of law."
