Israeli minister announces settlement plans 'to thwart Palestinian state'

Israeli far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has said he will approve plans to build more than 3,000 homes in a controversial settlement project in the occupied West Bank - a move he said will prevent the creation of a Palestinian state.

The so-called E1 project between Jerusalem and Maale Adumim settlement has been frozen for decades amid fierce opposition internationally. Building there would effectively cut off the West Bank from occupied East Jerusalem and significantly obstruct its territorial contiguity.

"The plan will bury the idea of a Palestinian state," Smotrich said, according to Israeli media.
...
"This is Zionism at its best – building, settling and strengthening our sovereignty in the Land of Israel."

And it's remarks like that which make many people think 'Zionism' in the modern world is something to be opposed. As these colonial plans are.

The question is whether the world will continue to stand by and watch as Israel commits genocide in Gaza and continues to murder Palestinians in the West Bank to take their lands or will finally do something to hold Israel accountable for breaking multiple international laws. Here’s a NYT article today (unlocked link) on West Bank attacks by Israel settlers. Settlers are rarely, if ever, punished for murdering Palestinians or burning their homes and taking their lands. And often, the IDF helps them.

“Settlers carried out more than 750 attacks on Palestinians and their property during the first half of this year, an average of nearly 130 assaults a month, according to records compiled by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. That is the highest monthly average since the U.N. started compiling such records in 2006.”

to send the Palestinian People there.

The result from having unconditionally supported Israel regardless of what they do just because it claims to be the only "democracy" is coming home because the American People are rapidly becoming Palestinians in our own land as our civil and human rights are continually eroded, and put at risk as well.

Israel is an apartheid state and we're becoming one as well a result.
