(6,000 posts)That I thought was hysterical. Best laugh of my day. But many others thought it shouldn't be on DU. Then I came to this one that I thought didn't belong on DU at all. I found this disgusting and degrading. It made me ill to watch even for a few seconds. It was an important reminder to me that we are a community of different people with different ideas of what is acceptable and what isn't. And yet, we manage to work together and try to build a better future for ourselves and those that come after us. Good points.

not see and know how women are treated? The thinking and culture exhibited there is not so very different from the mindset of the Woman-haters in this country, who are becoming more vocal and brazenly open by the day.

(6,000 posts)Total gut reaction to something horrendously awful. I suspected that may have been some of the others reactions to another story that I didn't think was so awful.

(6,000 posts)I agree we need to see it, or at least have access to see it. I suspect that even 5 years ago I wouldn't have had such a strong reaction because it was so far out of my normal life and life's possibilities. But I was wrong and that scares me, that this could actually happen here. That appalls me and makes me want to give up. Right now I feel like all the work we've done over the past 60 years is balancing on the edge of a deep abyss. I honestly don't want to look over the edge to see where we failed.

(6,000 posts)Some days the dogs don't work and everything is more dire and a lost cause. But, thanks to DU and all of you who post here I'm usually able to get out of that spot and think more positively. I'm glad you're willing to share you optimism. Thanks.

(126,336 posts)frequently go to them first. And then finding positive, activist people, knowing we are not alone, helps so much. DU saves my sanity, gives me hope, even on the darkest days.
Nevertheless, She persisted.
