"Vicious" on Amazon Prime

I stumbled across this series from 2013 and started watching because of the great British actors involved. I was not disappointed. Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings) and Derek Jacobi (I, Claudius) play a gay couple in their seventies who are constantly insulting each other in clever and dramatic ways, hence the title. Their frequently visiting friends include Frances de la Tour (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) as Violet, a woman unlucky in love who nonetheless keeps trying, and Iwan Rhoen (Game of Thrones) as their young neighbor who thinks of them as parental figures while his real mother and father are away in prison. The comedy is very broad and the jibes fly freely so if your looking for stupid fun delivered by accomplished thespians, this may be just the thing.

I watched when it was new. We see too little of those two master actors. And watching them play against each other is a treat.
