skarpetta on prime.

if u r a fan of particia cornwell’s kay skarpetta mysteries, definitely miss this series. u will b deeply disappointed. i read the books long ago, but this bares no resemblance to my memory.

starring nicole kidman (not rly a fan) & jamie lee curtis (huge fan, usually) as dr kay and her sister. they r living together, w their husbands, while sister dot’s home is being remodeled. they bicker constantly and pointlessly, and jlc’s cleavage is in your face for most of it. jlc is soooo obnoxious.
her niece, lucy, is grieving the loss of her wife, and has an ai version she spends all her time w. deeply creepy and sad.

it flips back and forth in time to kay’s 1st big case, and a deep secret about it. i am not a fan of flashbacks in general, but this is over the top and annoying af. there r different actors in the past.

there r plot holes, including a double murder that just drops out of the plot after showing the murder scene and a bit of the autopsy, and a suspect that just disappears.
dr kay is the victim of interoffice vendettas that she cant rly cope w.

cornwell is an executive producer on this, and i can only assume she is now senile.
a plug of the rotten tomato review came up on my fb feed, and this seems to b the general impression. i’m sure when they booked that ad they thought the reviews wd b great. they wasted their money.

Loved those books. Once I heard they had cast Nicole Kidman in that role, I knew it would not be watchable.
Oh well.

Marino is described as having a belly in his middle age. He is probably more winsome in the series.

Got through the 1st episode, but had to quit halfway through 2nd episode. Too confusing. Plus hated screaming matches between nk and jlc.
