young sherlock on prime.
another wonderful interpretation of conan doyles beloved character. im such a fan of every iteration i have seen, going back to watching the basil rathbone movies on family classics here in chgo.
its an origin story of sherlock and moriarity, who meet at oxford, where moriarity is a student on scholarship and sherlock gets a job as a scout, aka a slave to the porters. hes a trouble maker just released from prison for pick pocketing for the fun of it. mycroft manages to get him the job.
they 1st get together to solve the mystery of stolen chinese scrolls, brought to the college by a princess. they discover that the theft is a set up for a bomb that they manage to prevent killing a bunch of profs at a meeting. and off they go.
sherlock is framed for the murder of a prof, moriarty breaks him out of prison so they can solve the crime. and ill stop w the spoilers there.
beautiful scenery, high production values, great cast, and a well done mystery. lots of nods to the cannon.
cant rec enough.

(2,149 posts)I felt that they had Moriarty teaching Holmes some things about investigating, looking at evidence, etc. That M was an inspiration to H in the future. An interesting take on their relationship. I hope there is a second season.
