Samuel L. Jackson

At 43, he was an unknown actor with a heroin addiction. His 8-year old daughter found him unconscious on the floor, so he entered rehab. After his release, Spike Lee hired him to play a crack addict in Jungle Fever. The role was so cathartic it became his catalyst for staying clean + led him to the role in Pulp Fiction that made him a star.. finally ..at age 46

Especially if you been to the brink of death ... or the brink of anything else terrifying, like heading to a life on the street, losing your family and/or everything you've worked for ... everyone has a different bottom, it's all relative.

But going through that couple weeks of sheer hell and coming out the other side ... can be cathartic like nothing else.

A lot of people actually credit the whole experience.
