I found my tracking from before and I was moving a significant amount of weight, but not dwelling on that....well, trying not to.
I am still doing light weights, getting back into the swing of it and making sure my form is perfect so I don't hurt myself.
Up to 20 minutes on the exercise bike for warmup, but my butt goes numb after about 15 minutes. Got to figure that one out, if I watch The Pitt while I'm on there, the time goes fast!
Six workouts in two weeks, mostly just the bar, but my hips are finally feeling normal again, some days, I even forget to take Tylenol, so that's progress, right?
Trying to accept that it will take me a long time to get back to where I was and then, beyond.
I may be a fat lady, but I'm strong.
Sorry for the rambling, I spend a lot of time alone.

(14,609 posts)Instead of an exercise bike "my butt gets numb" , I use two different old school devices for warm up and light cardio: The one by the TV is th old "Cardio Glide" exercise machine that's not really a bike but more like a sit on rowing thing. It was touted by the Fit or Fat guy on PBS in the 90's and sold thru Sears and on TV. You can find them always on marketplace or eBay for $25 or so. It uses every major muscle group, and you're lifting body weight in the motion, not just sitting on it. And it is small-ish and silent so doesn't bother TV watching. The second one is a strider device that mimics cross country skiing, and is a bit more cardio. But if you're able to walk you can manage this device. It also was touted on TV infomercials back in the day, by Tony Little and is called Gazelle "Sprint Master" Again, available used on marketplace and craigslist type places for next to nothing.
I'll try to upload photos.
Good luck on your journey back to healthy!

(59,770 posts)my increases in intensity for any workout activity need to be done half as frequently and with half the increase in intensity that I used to think was fine.
In the long run, you do more because you avoid injury and long periods where you have to sit it out because of pain.
You are doing great, Bettie. Keep up the good work.

(511 posts)I'm 64 now, and I weigh more than I should. I still run, but not as often as I used to, and not as fast. When the weather is not nice enough to run, I use my elliptical trainer, and I need something good to watch on tv, or I get bored and stop. When I use weights, I go light. Half the weight I used to lift, but more reps. I had hernia surgery a few months ago, and the surgeon said no more sit-ups. He said do leg lifts instead, so I do those. Getting older has meant a lot of adjustments. But, it's still a good life.

I need to add some abdominal work, but I hate it so much.
