What I am thankful for.

Sometimes I find I get lost in the darkness and forget that I still have many things for which to be thankful. I sat quietly this morning and listened to my heart, and really found the things I am thankful for. I hope you don't mind posting them, and feel free to post your own. I think it is important for anyone dealing with mental illness to try to find something - anything - that can provide an anchor in the darkest hours. These are mine. I wish everyone peace during this day of thanksgiving.

The quiet time in the morning before anyone else I awake.

Max, Stitch

Jamie, who is there no matter what

The healthy McKenzie who is smart, kind and caring

Gaelen, who is smart, creative and forgiving

AJ, who is my baby – funny and smart

Mom and Dad who try to do their best even when they don’t understand

Employment and health care – at least we have them

Tae Kwon Do – all the people in the 6am class

Tom S. for taking me under his wing and helping me adjust to faculty

Ben C. for listening and being a friend, even long distance

Psychiatric drugs

Sunny days and gardening

The Vampire Diaries – the only thing my daughter and I can do together, peacefully, these days

My trip to Prague this year by myself

Motorcycles

That AJ still wants to fall asleep in my arms at night – this will change soon enough

I came out the other side of this stronger than when I went into it.

That it didn't permanently screw up my life.

That I am now doing things I want to do.

That I am enjoying the things I am now doing.

That I think I can pick up all of the pieces pretty effectively.

That in a year, it will seem like a bad dream.

That in the future, I will know enough not to ever get into this kind of situation again.

That the generic version of lamictal is dirt cheap, $15 for 30 days at 300 mgs a day.

Grateful that Costco essentially sells prescription drugs at a "break even" price just to get people in the door.

That there are still good people in the world.

That it was nice and sunny today so I could finish some of the outdoor chores that got neglected.

40 miles.

An early bedtime tonight, as in probably in about half an hour.
