"In the Test Kitchen" on Netflix

I should have mentioned this sooner, but Netflix has 2 new series, one really interesting and the other not so much. The good one is "In the Test Kitchen" and has, for those of you who watch them on PBS, Lan Lam and Brian Roof, plus two other folks I don't know, but they're great nonetheless. They go through varieties of recipes developed in and out of the test kitchen and talk about what makes the product good and maybe not so good.

The first episode was about chocolate chip cookies -- as Ina Garten would say, "how bad can that be?" -- from their "perfect chocolate chip cookies" recipe to their crispy chocolate chip cookie recipe to the Levain chocolate chip cookies....you get the picture. Episode two is about hamburgers, including everything from smashburgers to pub burgers to meatloaf (!?) burgers. Anyhow, it's great fun for those who love ATK and/or food generally and apparently new episodes come out every other Thursday.

The other show is just Julia and Brigid talking about...whatever, I guess. It's called Side Dish. I like both of them separately and together, but this show doesn't spotlight their easy chemistry and good humor IMO. Brigid is at her best when she's a bit snarky and Julia is best when she's being effervescent and neighborly -- those two characteristics are sadly missing from the show, but you might have a different opinion, so if you're a fan, or even if you aren't. give it a try.

Sorry for writing an entire thesis about stuff on Netflix, but I thought it might interest some of you.
