Has Anyone Here On DU Had Any Customer Service Issues/Problems With Lowe's?.....

I'm having a go round with them now with respect to a Lowe's Exclusive Tool Line. The only place you can purchase this tool is at Lowe's (it's their store brand).

I need the item repaired. I didn't ask them to replace it under warranty or get a new replacement product.

I just want them to send it out for repair. I'll gladly pay the repair price - just to have this item back and working.

I don't know their rationale - but they want me to product a 'proof of purchase/invoice'.

Don't they believe in their store brands? Why wouldn't they send my product out for repair?

I just don't get it.

I'm wondering if any one here on DU had gone thru a similar experience and how you dealt with it.
Any info would be appreciated.

Could NOT get an install date. This was a few years ago, before COVID. It was an unforgettable experience. So many phone calls, being disconnected while we were on hold, etc. It was a challenging installation situation in an old house. After two weeks, my husband just did it himself. Good job! But we have not entered a Lowe's since.

So I'm of no use about how to fix your problem, but can assure you that you are not alone.

You might try going on Lowe's or /Lowe's on Reddit and/or Instagram and comment there. Sometimes those places attract a different type of attention. It's worked for me with a couple of retail situations but I don't think I ever tried it with Lowe's.

I bought a frost free freezer with all the money I could afford, paid for it in full, and had it delivered

See I go to the food bank and needed to preserve the fresh veggies and fruits I get there. As a diabetic and low income senior I thought it would be a good investment to save food, especially those in season, that I could not afford or it is affordable in season. I also bought a guarantee at $60 a month in order to afford the cost if the thing went down. I also can fruits and veggies, and dehydrate to preserve all that I can as well. But. for a diabetic, a lot of expensive foods need to be frozen in order to be able to eat these things when they are out of season.

They never said a word about where it was set down.

Well three years into it, the freezer went down. So I called out to the guarantee people to fix it. When they got there they said that my freezer was "placed in the wrong place" where it was the only place that fit, and they refused to fix it. This was with no comment to me when they placed it out on my covered back porch.

Interesting I found out that a frost-free freezer actually hates cold weather Whodda thunk? Seems like even supposedly if it is "garage ready" this means your garage better be able to maintain an above freezing temp or your freezer is doomed.

Figured $60 a month for 3 years equals over $2100. In spite of paying that much as well as for the freezer, it was *not* worth it and I had to fight them to get $200 back from that company for their refusal to fix my freezer. The only ones that "like" cold weather are the ones you defrost, and they are still sold, but are few and far between. BTW manual defrost can last forever if you regularly defrost them, just be careful not to punch a hole into the freon lines. Yeah, yeah, freon is not environmentally good. However I already had to defrost the "frost free" freezer anyway. So yep freon is not a good thing, but on the other hand there are old manual defrost freezers that last a long time. Just make sure to defrost 2 X a year.

So for this reason I now refuse to go to Lowes. If they cannot be honest up front why frost free freezers do not like cold weather, then all the things I need I will do my best to support local hardware stores who actually pay taxes to my community rather than get massive tax breaks from cities to be where they are like Lowes and Home Depot. Lowes got over $3000 from this low income senior for basically a boat anchor.

I bought a freezer from them. I paid them $50 a month for three years for an extended warranty. I also paid them for delivery and set up, which they did. Three years later it went kaput and so I thought I could use that warranty. Nope they said that where it was installed (on a covered balcony), was the wrong place and so their warranty was invalid. Turns out that frost free freezers HATE cold weather, and they never told me that where they put it would invalidate the warranty. So the $1800 paid to protect me was just eaten up and now i have a boat anchor that at 73 I cannot move.

I learnt this a couple decades ago, insurance companies are in business to not insure you. They have the lawyers, and they have their giant influence from our legislators to get tax free presence. At any rate I will never go to Lowes if I can although Home Depots are awful too. Their head owners actually hate their employees, saying out loud that workers "steal" from him. My DIL worked there and they were horrible to her although her fellow employees loved her.

Local hardware stores, who do pay taxes are now where I try to patronize. But I am poor and my "dollar votes" do not make much of a impact. But I will say, go local if you can. Yazh they may be more expensive, but not that much of any if you go with them. They know you, they are usually better equipped, you do not have to travel as far, so in the end they are a better place.

Oh and I would urge you to contact your legislators to tell them how much better your community would be if those big box businesses paid taxes. And not rely upon their employees to pay taxes and then claim the company paid those taxes. I wrote to mine and told them why I refuse go to stores who do not pay local and federal taxes. They said they heard me but, let's face it, who am I but a retired low wage worker.
