I didn't plant it, I rarely eat zucchini, but I'm protecting this one with barberry prunings.

Those branches sure are thorny. I've got a rather big bush because I hate pruning it. But birds love nesting in it.

I've been lucky so far. I do have wildlife in the yard but none have eaten my produce yet.
