Do your cats not eat when it gets really hot?

It's in the upper 90s here and we don't have AC. My cat nibbled a little but is leaving a whole bowl of food. And it's fresh Costco chicken which is her favorite food on the planet.

Or they all don’t eat. I’m sure they meet about it in the morning before we get up. Sometimes it appears to be weather related. Sometimes just a change in the weather, too hot, too cold, too wet or dry suddenly, will do it.

If just one of them doesn’t eat and the other three do, we start to worry… until the next day’s meeting when they tell that her to eat if she doesn’t want to go to the vet. (Yes, it will be one of the girls who doesn’t eat. If our boy doesn’t eat, we might consider it an emergency.)

5. Does she need water or milk? My cat is insisting on eating 4 times a day.

I am in a basement apartment so it is not hot. But I get pestered until I give in and feed him. Maybe he doesn't like his water and needs the liquid a new small tin of wet cat food can give him. This is new behaviour. I will try a different water bowl.

8. I saw recently where they tend to hate plastic bowls filled with water.

I have to wonder why *I* didn't think of that earlier! I detest the taste of water if it's been in a plastic glass, myself. There's just this taste that comes with it... I can't describe it, but I can bring up the memory of the taste in a second of thinking about it. Of course, this was from an ad hawking a really cool looking steel watering system for the cats. Looked so cool, I actually clicked in to see how much and if I could afford it for them. Unfortunately, my babies are going to have to continue drinking out of their ceramic bowl. The water system was about $100.00. Too rich for my blood. I hate feeling like a bad cat mom, simply because I'm poor!

glass one. I'll see if he doesn't boss me around tomorrow regarding food. I've often seen moving water systems for cats. I think my dad got one but his cat was afraid of the noise if I remember correctly.

It was large enough to handle my brood, and the water fountain was shaped more like a small, thin faucet. And I have several cats that love to lay upside down and catch the drips or light stream coming from the sinks! (LOL) Silly little beasties!

They eat less when it's hot.

Our bodies need to go limp in the heat and making them digest food while hot is just not good for anyone.
