out at a nice restaurant....oh yeah! sounds like FDR was prone to overdo the ingredients.

this article in Hamilton's "War and Peace: 1943-45" or some such title. His interpreter, I think his name was Charles Bohlen at the Teheran conference, claimed it was the best martini he ever had. Dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, gin over crushed ice I think it was.

Amazing that FDR drank apparently about 1-2 drinks per day and smoked so much in his physical condition. The doctors couldn't overstep their bounds. Today they'd have beta blockers, blood pressure meds, fish oil for enlarged heart. Primitive back then.
