"Our leading papers failed to stand up to Trump's criminal justice authoritarianism"

If one thinks that Trump is not going to stop moving forward on his authoritarian path until he is stopped from doing so, then the stories told by the mainstream media this week in response to Trump’s attack on DC suggest that they are more likely to play the role of accomplices than truth-tellers.

Our leading papers failed to stand up to Trump's criminal justice authoritarianism
The Washington Post and The New York Times editorial boards failed to hold Trump accountable for his attack on D.C. And, for paid subscribers: Closing my tabs.

1. The loss of independent journalism is one of my biggest fears. Without that

we have no idea what is going on in our nation. Congress is shirking their responsibility by not defending the free press.

I get that the Dems cannot enact legislation based on the Repug majority. I am not sure they don't have standing to sue where Trump is overstepping on the rights of the legislative branch.

with reference to our country... our democracy, IMNSHO.

As to the "independent press"... we lost that back in the g bush years. When he allowed the change to ownership limits, we lost our press. Now, all media is owned by very few individuals... very rich individuals. They control papers, tv, online mediaship, everything. I don't consider anything "independent" any longer unless it's the paper from around the block, or media news sites not taking money from corporations and their toadies.

that went into depth about the way we've been manipulated and offered false choices, especially about energy, since the time of Tesla... it even named names and included those who had died "mysteriously" when they insisted on patents for their inventions. It just really makes you sick. I don't know if any or all of these inventions would have worked the way they were promoted by their creators, but I think we should have had the chance to see. These were potentially life-changing energy inventions. And every one of them was silenced by the mega corporations or multi billionaires. Ordinary people don't have a chance in this world... anywhere... from what I could tell, a lot of it is global resistance because it would cost the moneyed people to lose too much of their dollars.

as perhaps the only tv station of any kind that is still independent Free Speech tv: https://freespeech.org

Among those rare shows that are still independent include Amy Goodman's democracynow.org. The Stephanie Miller Show and Thom Hartmann's show.

That illustrates just how much we have been blacked out of the media
