Arkansas lawsuit aims to throw out medical marijuana proposal

With the promise of Arkansas’ medical marijuana vote making it to the November ballot has come an effort by state conservatives to shut down the proposal before voters have the opportunity to weigh in. Filed in the state’s Supreme Court by the Coalition to Preserve Arkansas Values, the opposition argues that the bill both introduces additional addictive substances into society via a misleading, insufficient piece of legislation and also attempts to circumnavigate previously established federal law.

The group is comprised of members from other conservative groups such as the Arkansas Faith and Ethics Council, the Family Council Action Committee, the Families First Foundation and the Arkansas Family Coalition.
