Everytown has now decided it *likes* state preemption laws, hopes you won't notice their 180

Started reseaching their stance after reading the following link

https://www.democraticunderground.com/1172210538

From 2018:

https://everytownresearch.org/report/fact-sheet-preemption-laws/

Local law enforcement and government officials know best how to keep their communities safe. They should be able to determine local public safety policies, not state legislators...

That, of course, was before. Now, state preemption laws are doubleplusgood:

https://everytownlaw.org/press/residents-ask-oregon-court-to-invalidate-columbia-county-ordinance-claiming-to-nullify-gun-laws-saying-it-violates-u-s-constitution-and-oregon-law/

...Everytown Law represents the residents challenging the ordinance, as does the Oregon-based law firm Stoll Berne. Everytown Law is the litigation arm of Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, which is part of Everytown for Gun Safety.

“The residents we represent expect the county to comply with Oregon law and with the U.S. Constitution, both of which make clear that local governments don’t have the legal authority to pick and choose which public safety laws apply within their borders,” said Eric Tirschwell, managing director for Everytown Law....

I'm a bit surprised he didn't go on to declare that 'we've always been at war with Eastasia'...

Reign them in a bit so they don't feel above the laws.

If the sheriff in that county had been appointed, they'd be turfed if they didn't follow the (local) law

Congress sometimes needs a bit of reigning in.
