Simone Biles Was Asked To Smile. Her Response To That Question Is Gold.
Following her Paso Doble performance, judge Carrie Ann Inaba said she saw improvement, but added that the Olympic gold medalist should be careful not to dance “like a metronome.” Host Tom Bergeron jumped in, asking, “I was waiting for you to smile at some of the compliments, you didn’t.”
(Oh, dude. No.)
Biles’ response: “Smiling doesn’t win you gold medals.”
The comment shut down the host, earning “oohs” from the audience and a ton of support online.
