"How to Cook a Tart" by Nina Kilham The whole book could win a Bulwer-Lytton prize

Really some of the most purple prose I've encountered in 40 years.

And incredibly derivative - Think "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, Her Lover" but with an almost, but not quite, comedic twist.

Just awful. Couldn't put it down, couldn't read it without skimming.

Don't have to pitch it in the trash, just a click and it's gone. I know very well there are more books than I can ever read.....

And I skimmed.

It was awful.

On the other hand - Wolf Hall is amazing.

Reviewers also mentioned the purple prose. But it looks like a fun sort of romp.
