Two excellent books

The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett is a funny small novel taking the Queen (Elizabeth II) as the lead character and her stumbling into a reading habig and then deciding she wants to write.

American Dervish by Ayad Akhtar about Hayat, an immigant boy in a Pakistani family and his love for his mother's best friend and the trials of family life and behavior in a bi-cultural experience. Well done, thoughtful.
