I'm listening to THE BLITHEDALE ROMANCE, and I'm about halfway through.

I like it better than I expected.

Something about Hawthorne's writing is just kinda....creepy. Like things are just a little bit off.

I remember a short story he wrote about some elderly people who thought they looked young but in the mirror their reflections were of elderly people. This book is kind of like that--people are not what they seem to be.

Are you listening to this through LibriVox? I see my library offers this but I haven't tried it yet. This might be a good place to start, though.

I did not know the Transcendental movement was active here in the 1800s. Sounds like a very intriguing story. Thanks for sharing.
