2 Limited liability means that the shareholders in a corporation cannot be personally held liable for the debts of a corporation.

The author didn't specify a source for that information. Maybe it's simply fiction that the author invented. Maybe it's true, but there's no way to decide. There are so many books at the library that it's hopeless to try to read them all. If you pick a few hundred at random and you are very lucky, then you might find the words "limited liability" in some book, but it's very unlikely that the excerpt I quoted above would appear word-for-word exactly as it appears above. So you would be forced to try to understand what is being said. That's no good. You need an authority to tell you, "I am the source. I said it. It's true."
