despair

despair digs deeper finding the crumbling cracks
a chip here a shovel mining down into the black
far and further it sinks exposing a diamond heart
flawed uncut it shrinks the shaft shoring set apart
dust and debris shifting clutters up the dim lights
ragged gloves left sifting rotted beams show blight
awaiting the final disaster when the roof caves in
delving ever more faster into that which saves sin
souls drifting in fetid gas have ignored a warning
wishing the future has past the time of mourning
and the ceiling has collapsed frail life is revealed
pray to god we are relapsed a fate long concealed
greater heavier weights piled up higher and higher
creation a bit too late birth upon the funeral pyre
