broken moments

living in the broken moments before the dust settles
glance at the carnage wonder what had gone wrong
suffering a myriad of torments to clutch at the nettles
and to cringe at the thunder fearing lightening’s song
to find where it all began and who initiated the start
where does the sound come from can it be turned off
wait for the destruction’s end to quiet the rapid heart
while adding up the whole sum each rend of the cloth
and now that a simple silence emerges and dominates
a sense of reality is revealed leading to a kind of hope
that explains the sheer violence as the gods ruminates
exposes what was concealed as now the fingers grope
amidst a crumbling rubble to search for what is whole
and to pop a tumbling bubble and lurch inside its soul
