words are weak substitutes for thoughts

words are weak substitutes for thoughts

words are weak substitutes for thoughts they hover
between both the meaningful and the meaningless
yet all humanity confutes and debates all to cover
as the minds are teeming full of books seeming less
first the words are nonsense then they focus ideas
form the concrete meaning or create solemn images
so strong do these entrench depict loves and fears
infecting lives and dreaming building up the ravages
and last the words usurp understanding of knowing
putting a limit on infinity surrounded by stone walls
cursing any who dare shirk boundaries by growing
great demands of divinity insist that which enthralls
as words admit their fragility give warning of the loss
depicting a god’s nativity and a death upon the cross
