one step back in hesitation go deeper in the shadows
with the known past behind and the unknown ahead
darkness provides insulation separated by lost battles
a reality caught in the mind prefers the truth instead
what was once alive and clear being dragged in dust
as remnants of heart and soul tattered and unraveled
sight focused on death and drear desires verses must
to drink from an empty bowl beside a road untraveled
awake in the early morning believe that all was dream
turning thoughts inside or out in strict random order
strip the raiments of adorning to wipe the idols clean
conceal the increase of doubt to expose the hoarder
clutching to scraps and rags in the rising desperation
as the wall cracks and sags and crushes all inspiration
