observers note detail and describe inhales and exhales
a scent on each single breath depth and height of age
condensation collects hides on mirrors a time does fail
hidden in plain sight signs leading to and leading away
tracks of heavy hobnail boots worn by a thousand men
littered by the wayside spines skulls dusted in iron gray
wreckage from a fear of pursuit of the lost battles in sin
ghouls and scavengers abound stealing souls and teeth
furtive or fearful bold or brazen fattened by the carnage
creep slow without a sound seek that which lies beneath
stand guard afraid to hasten grown rich amidst garbage
in darkness the smells penetrate as odd auras dominate
human civilizations degenerate as death accommodates
