the reality of dream

every morning to awake the reality where dream still resonants
as the moments begin to accumulate the harsh truth reappears
awash in the darkened sea of futility a cruel world demonstrates
with no moments in which to hesitate all the hope to disappear
before living in a time of pleasure yet now so aware of the pain
to reach and and create the touch but now a hand is held back
and at last attain a desired treasure to be left with the mundane
as empty fingers in a tight clutch release only shadows of black
sit on the edge of the bed torn between the past and the present
seconds wasted pondering indecision reluctantly take a first step
a new day in which to be born to taste the evil and the pleasant
accepting this new god’s religion and all the commandments kept
washing the sleep from the eyes preparing the body for new sins
carefully arranging the day’s disguise quietly intoning the hymns
