words without music

i can never seem to match the words to the melodies and music
losing time losing meter disjointed and sung in a clumsy rhyme
create pathetic songs not to be heard not primitive or even rustic
for an audience to be disappointed and walk out in record time
match single notes to syllables setting the sentences to chords
flowing fluidly from the singing tongue held by the microphones
the jaws exercising as if mandibles expressing tone for the lords
moments taking leaving and bringing deeper in the brittle bones
approaching tentative and hesitant as the fingers caress the keys
driven by a desire and not a reason meaninglessness progresses
with the haunted and the dissonant with no human ears to please
adding minor slices to give season muted flats to make a little less
mixing the words and the phrases into the same songs sung dire
pretending that the result amazes hoping to set the world on fire
